Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco officially launched at MWC 2018
At the MWC 2018 event, Nokia is back with a series of new smartphones and refresh models, namely the Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018 edition), the Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco curved and bezel-less smartphone.
The Nokia 6 of 2017 was one of the best budget smartphones in the market and the 2018 model comes with slightly better specifications. For starters, the processor has now been upgraded to Snapdragon 630, a chip that’s known for its power efficiency. The 5.5-inch IPS display is the same with FHD resolution and the device sports 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage models. The battery of the Nokia 6 (2018) is 3000 mah in capacity and the camera configurations consist of 16MP on the rear and 8MP on the front (both with F2.0 aperture lens).
The Nokia 7 Plus, on the other hand, features a 6-inch IPS display with 2160 x 1080 resolution and the aspect ratio on this device screen is 18:9. With the Snapdragon 660 processor powering the device and with a 3800 mAh battery under its hood, the battery life should be good as well, along with the support of the fast charge. The 4GB RAM should be sufficient for a smooth operation of Android 8.0 Oreo. The rear camera of the Nokia 7 Plus features a dual lens ZEISS setup. One of the lenses holds a 12MP shooter with f/1.75 aperture and the secondary lens packs a 13MP with f/2.6 aperture. The front camera consists of a large 16MP snapper with F2.0 lens. The Nokia 7 Plus is 7.99mm thick and the device holds a 3.5mm headphone jack.
But that may not be the case with the all-new Nokia 8 Sirocco, a smartphone with a bezel-less display with curved edges on either side. The display panel used here is a 5.5-inch P-OLED with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. And powering the device is the Snapdragon 835 processor with a whopping 6GB RAM and with a massive internal storage of 128GB. Nokia is certainly taking it to the next level to challenge the likes of other brands. The rear camera setup consists of a similar shooter with the same number of megapixels and aperture as the Nokia 7 Plus. However, the front camera of the Nokia 8 Sirocco only features a 5MP selfie snapper with F2.0 aperture. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
The last device is the Nokia 1 with the Android Go operating system, a version of Android that’s fine-tuned to work on very cheap and affordable hardware. The Nokia 1 has a 4.5-inch display with a very modest 854 x 480 resolution. The device comes powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor with 1GB RAM. There is also 8GB of internal storage on the Nokia 1 with microSD card expansion. The camera setup includes a 5MP shooter on the rear with LED flash and a 2MP on the front side. The battery of the device is 2150 mAh.
The prices and availability of the new Nokia smartphones in the UAE are yet to be known but we are certain that it will hit the local stores soon in the region.
