Samsung has finally unpacked their latest rugged iteration called the Galaxy S8 Active as an exclusive for AT&T customers in the US. The device shares similar specifications as the standard Galaxy S8 series, but with some upgrades in battery life and a tougher MIL-STD-810G specification that can resist “a subset of 21 specific environmental conditions, including temperature, dust, shock/vibration, and low pressure/high altitude”, according to Samsung. Samsung had to ditch its Infinity Display screen in favor of housing the new rugged body. Rather than the Exynos chipset, the Galaxy S8 Active is powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM and an internal storage of 64GB. This can be expanded with a MicroSD card. Design and Display

The camera in the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active appears to be the same as the Galaxy S8, featuring a 12MP Dual-Pixel camera and an aperture of f1.7. The selfie camera is an 8MP snapper, also with an f1.7 aperture.

The inbuilt battery holds a large capacity of 4000 mAh. The smartphone also supports the fast charge and wireless charging capabilities, and since the device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, it’s easy to guess that the device is backed by the Quick Charge technology.
